Photo exhibition of Rikuzen Takada city in Vienna

A photographs of disaster stricken Rikuzen Takada city captured by a photographer, Satoshi Ueda, who lost his mother to the 311 tsunami are being exhibited in Vienna, Austria. The exhibition features 45 works which vividly depict the lives of the disaster-stricken residents and the harsh reality of the tsunami taking everything in its way, including the one that was taken at the location where his mother was last seen; a picture of a stuffed animal without its head amid the sea of debris.

A woman who visited the exhibit commented, “I’m so shocked to realize what had really happened in this city when the disaster hit. The photos really made me think about the disaster.”

Along with the photo exhibition, Mr. Ueda presented a slide show and talked about the scenes and his feelings behind each photographs. He plans to capture the city, his hometown, as it revives from now on. The exhibition will be open until December 2 at Vienna University. It will be also held in Italy later on.
