Danbo desk ornaments [●▲●];
Among many cute stuff taking off in Japan, I recently came across “Danbo” desk ornaments. I think I first spotted one in a photo posted by GreenMind on his Tumblrlog, but back then, I had no idea what it was (only thought that it was a neat photo prop).

According to ja.wikipedia, Danbo originally appeared in a manga titled “Yotsubato!” (written by Kiyohiko Azuma) and it was a make-believe robot made of shipping boxes, which had a person inside. I haven’t read the said manga, but it sure sounds interesting. Due to its popularity and demand for the character goods, Danbo has materialized as a small desktop toy made by Revoltech. Now Mini Danbo is also available. Amazon Japan site seems to be limiting to 3 per order due to much popularity. It has an Amazon.jp version as well.

Photos borrowed from this Japanese blog. Sadly, I don’t own one.
