Namie town kids’ reunion in Yokohama
The Namie town residents have evacuated all over the nation since the accident of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, and the majority of the children have been separated from their friends from schools for a long time. There were 6 elementary schools in Namie town.

A building management firm in Tokyo planned and sponsored a Namie kids’ reunion in Yokohama, so that they can reunite with their good friends to spend the winter holidays. 215 participants from 64 households took up the offer, and gathered at the MinatoMirai.
As soon as they got to the initial meeting place, many children spotted their friends right away and enjoyed seeing each other again. Among them, the reunion meant so much for a couple of 5th graders, who had been together since kindergarten: Ms. Rino Ishikawa who is evacuated to Machida city, Tokyo with her family, and her best friend, Ms. Megumi Hibiki, whose family evacuated to Nihonmatsu city, Fukushima. They were reunited after 10 months since the 3.11 disaster. They both expressed that they wanted to spend every minute of this holiday together.
The participants stay and have sightseeing in Yokohama to enjoy their winter reunion.
