Tokyo: New energy fund
Since the accident of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, Tokyo prefecture aims to create a system to provide steady power supply to its residents. They requested the government to loosen the regulation, so that private firms can easily get into power generating business. Moreover, they decided to set up a new energy fund, collecting as much as 20 billion yen from private sectors. This fund will be able to financially support the private firms to embark on power generating venture, such as wind power, and/or the power companies to renew their aged thermal power plants. The prefecture aims to operate the fund as early as this July.
